Geely Galaxy debuts a breakthrough new 16-in-1 EV drive system.
Geely Galaxy has officially taken the wraps off its revolutionary “Thunder” 16-in-1 intelligent electric drive system, representing a major leap forward in electric vehicle (EV) powertrain engineering. Developed by InfiMotion—a specialized subsidiary of the Geely Holding Group—the new powertrain setup achieves an unprecedented comprehensive efficiency rating of 93.8%, establishing a new production-level benchmark for the global automotive industry.

By tightly packing advanced hardware components with proprietary artificial intelligence algorithms, the system systematically targets the traditional bugbears of modern EVs: weight, packaging constraints, thermal management, and computing latency.
Extreme Integration: Eliminating 180 Redundant Components
The “Thunder” system achieves its ultra-high integration by merging a total of 12 distinct hardware functions alongside four independent software capabilities into a single, cohesive powertrain block.

This cross-domain architecture eliminates more than 180 redundant internal elements, unlocking a power density of 11.8 kW/kg (15.8 hp/kg). To further reduce mass, the powertrain utilizes a specialized magnesium alloy housing alongside a unified structure that binds the motor, reducer, and mounting brackets together.
The entire unit tips the scales at just 75 kg—marking a substantial 15% weight reduction compared to mainstream industry alternatives. Wiring complexity has also been streamlined, trimming down high-voltage cabling by 30% and low-voltage wiring by 15%. Structurally, the unit keeps its total vertical height under 325 mm, a highly compact footprint that frees up an additional 28 litres of trunk volume for cargo or passenger packaging.
800V High-Voltage Architecture and “One-Chip” Performance
Built upon a modern 800V high-voltage electrical platform, the system introduces proprietary “One-Chip” technology to optimize vehicle electronics communication. This architecture compresses control latency from an industry average of 40 milliseconds down to a lightning-fast 2 milliseconds, drastically sharpening throttle responsiveness and traction corrections.

In real-world efficiency challenges, a development test mule equipped with the Thunder drive system achieved a record-breaking consumption trace of 8.2 kWh/100km during an endurance run around Qinghai Lake. Under standard operating constraints, the system reliably supports a certified CLTC-rated energy consumption metric as low as 10.7 kWh/100km.
AI-Driven Thermal Management for Severe Winter Climates
Powertrain efficiency is dynamically governed by integrated AI algorithms that realign hardware operation during sustained high-speed driving and sub-zero ambient temperatures.
In freezing winter environments down to -18℃, the intelligent thermal management system can actively capture and store thermal energy equivalent to approximately 7 kWh. By cleverly recycling this powertrain waste heat back into the vehicle’s climate controls, the technology reduces cabin heating energy consumption by over 40%, directly addressing winter range degradation to ensure stable driving distances all year round.
