Chinese technology and electric vehicle manufacturer XPENG has made a bold statement by launching their latest vehicle in Munich and not in its home nation
XPeng Motors held its Brand Day event in Munich, Germany, officially unveiling the MONA L03which is the official global model of its new MONA series and announced plans to sell the vehicle in 65 countries worldwide.
The design was led by Juanma Lopez, VP of Design at XPeng and former Head of Exterior Design at Ferrari, embodying the “Vital Flow” philosophy that emphasizes dynamic vitality.
Key design features include a wide-body fastback silhouette, frameless doors, flush side windows, and an ultra-wide curved rear windshield, achieving an industry-leading drag coefficient of Cd 0.228.
The MONA L03 is offered in two powertrain variants which is pure electric and super extended-range with nine configurations in total.
The pure electric version delivers up to 650km of CLTC range and a combined energy consumption of just 11.5 kWh per 100km.
The super extended-range variant offers 325km of CLTC all-electric range and a total combined range of 1,380 km, with a WLTC fuel consumption of 4.96 L/100km under low-battery conditions.
In China, pricing ranges from RMB123,800 to RMB156,800. For the intelligent cockpit, the overseas version runs XPeng’s XOS 6 operating system, supporting mixed-language recognition and natural language interaction in English, German, French, and more.
Interior highlights include a 26.8-inch W-HUD, a 20-speaker AI audio system, 14-point massage seats, a zero-gravity front passenger seat, velvet headliner, and over 72% soft-touch material coverage. The vehicle offers 40 storage compartments, a 102-liter front trunk (frunk) for the BEV version, a standard 539-liter rear trunk expandable to 1,640 liters when the rear seats are folded, plus provisions for a tow hook and roof rack mounts.
The intelligent driving system features XPeng Turing AI Driving powered by the second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) model, enabling a single unified model to support both L2 driver assistance and L4 autonomous driving scenarios across China and Europe. Built on advanced physical-world understanding capabilities, the system operates without reliance on high-definition maps.
It has already passed localisation validation tests in Europe, demonstrating strong performance in complex road environments and comprehension of implicit traffic rules. XPeng thus becomes the first Chinese automaker to deploy a single AI model seamlessly across both Chinese and European intelligent driving ecosystems.
In terms of safety, the MONA L03 meets five-star safety standards in China, Europe, and Australia. It comes equipped with an all-scenario run-flat stability system and a driver incapacitation assistance system.
Customers who place orders before August 31, 2026, will receive several limited-time complimentary upgrades, including three exterior color options, comfort seat packages, AI adaptive suspension, the 20-speaker audio system, and an RNC active noise cancellation module. Optional upgrade packages include a wheel/tire package for RMB4,000 and a ROAM theme package for RMB6,999. XPeng continues to accelerate its global expansion, adhering to its “In Europe, For Europe” strategy.
The company has established a R&D center in Munich and partnered with Magna to advance localised production, with the G6 and G9 models already being manufactured at Magna’s Austrian facility.
To date, XPeng has delivered over 1.2 million vehicles globally, operates more than 1,200 stores across 65 countries, and provides access to an ultra-fast charging network comprising over 2.7 million charging points in 31 countries.
Additionally, XPeng is extending its Physically-Aware AI technology into robotics and flying cars, targeting commercialisation of humanoid robots by 2027 and planning an annual production capacity of 10,000 units at its dedicated flying car factory.
