As promised, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has officially opened the order books for the Hyundai Palisade, which the company confirms will be launched this month. The full-size SUV was spotted on a trailer near Sime Darby Motors City back in October.

PRESS RELEASE

Hyundai’s flagship large three row Palisade SUV, which will be rolled out this month, marks Hyundai’s first full-size SUV to be launched in Malaysia.

The Palisade comes with an all-new SUV chassis with exceptional second and thirdrow spaciousness coupled with generous cargo area and reconfiguration flexibility. The Palisade, which will come in a 7 and 8-seater configuration, is a complete built-up unit from Ulsan, Korea.

“The Hyundai Palisade will be a new contender in the E-segment SUV, boasting cutting-edge technology, a host of advanced safety features including Hyundai’s Smartsense, ample space and an elegant design. It is Hyundai’s largest SUV with a long wheelbase. Its practical all-purpose built is great for off-roading, road trips and even for daily use,” said Mr Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM).

Palisade is a new-generation SUV that embodies Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design concept – which harmonizes the fundamental design elements of proportion, architecture, styling, and technology, thereby creating synergy between aesthetics and performance.

From the front, a dominant, bold and wide cascading grille clearly represents a premium SUV. Separated composite headlamps and a vertically connected forward lighting signature create a strong and distinctive front demeanour, with available LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED turn-signal mirrors.

A powerful, extended hood profile creates an impressive road presence while bold C-pillars and a panoramic glass side graphic conveys generous third-row spaciousness. Full volume over-fenders and body sides offer muscular detailing. The rear view emphasizes a wide and stable stance via sinuous detailing and a vertical LED rear taillamp design. Panoramic rear glass coupled with a cutaway roof provides a generous sense of spaciousness to rear passengers.

The interior design combines a sense of relaxation and comfort, creating a serene environment with seven or eight-passenger seating standard for family adventures. Seats are wrapped with premium, quilted Nappa leather, while on the instrument panel is a smooth woodgrain trim in a wraparound interior design that creates a spacious, comfortable ambience.

The One-Touch second row seat allows for single-touch operation of the seat forward for easy access into and out of the third row seat. Second row captain’s chairs, which are only available with the seven-seater version, offer ventilated seating surfaces. Every Palisade seating row offers USB outlets for convenience for all passengers.

The Palisade also features an industry-first, innovative new roof vent diffuser design that can provide a focused, partially-diffused or fully-diffused stream of air to rear passengers. This new diffuser vent design provides quieter rear air conditioning airflow, draft-free operation, more uniform distribution of air and the capability for a focused stream of air whenever desired.

The petrol variant is powered by a 3.8-litreV6, dual CVVT, direct-injected engine, for excellent power and efficiency. The powerplant produces an estimated 295 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and an estimated 355Nm of torque at 5,200 rpm. The diesel variant on the other hand, is powered by a R2.2 CRDi inline 4 engine that produces an estimated 200 PS of power at 3,800 rpm and 440Nm of torque at 1,750-2,750 rpm. It delivers power to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with a multi-plate torque converter and offers both two-wheel and HTRAC® four-wheel-drive configurations. The Palisade offers more standard power than any other SUV in its competitive set and an unsurpassed level of torque.
