BYD Corvette 07 To Launch In China From USD32,000
Too bad the BYD Corvette 07 will not launch in Malaysia
The BYD Corvette, not to be confused with the Chevrolet Corvette sports car, is a large SUV under the BYD brand and will be launching in China on 9 December 2022 with six different trim levels starting from 220,000 yuan (USD32,00) going all the way up to 280,000 yuan (USD40,750).
The BYD Corvette 07 will make its debut at the Chengdu auto Show and this 5-seater SUV will be the newest addition to the Chinese automaker’s ‘Warship series’ of vehicles. This series is positioned just above the basic lineup with the Corvette 07 being the flagship SUV of the series.
Moreover, the BYD Corvette 07 is a handsome looking SUV and features a wide grille with a light bar that connects both headlights which have the word “BYD” in the centre and this centerpiece can be illuminated too. The six point grille was said to be inspired by ripple waves.
The BYD Corvette 07 measures 4,820mm in length, 1,920mm in width and 1,750mm in height with a 2,820mm wheelbase and the car features a two piece rear spoiler as well as another light bar that connects the two tail lights. The full name of the automaker, ‘Build Your Dreams’ is featured once again, in the middle.
Meanwhile, the interior of the BYD Corvette 07 features a more conventional design with a three-spoke steering wheel, with a simple digital driver display and floating central infotainment screen and round air conditioning vents on either side as well as a gear shifter with a few buttons and electronic parking brake switch in the centre.
The BYD Corvette 07 comes with a panoramic sun roof as standard and is expected to be offered in six trim levels with two of them being PHEV options which utilize a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine paired to either one or two electric motors that will produce a total of 197hp while the other makes 295kW of power and 656Nm of torque.
On top of that, the BYD Corvette 07 is also expected to be offered in two battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions which will come with either an 18.3kWh or 36.8kWh battery with a range of either 100km or 205km respectively with the 0 to 100km/h time varying from 4.7, 8.5 or 8.9 seconds depending on the model.
What do you guys think of the BYD Corvette 07? Do you think this thing could outsell the Proton X70 and Honda CR-V here in Malaysia if they were brought in?
