Geely Opens A New Design Centre In Milan
This Geely center will work on R&D programs for concept and production cars
Geely has become a very familiar name in Malaysia as of late thanks to the brand’s partnership with our first National car company, Proton, in 2017. Since then, the brand has seen unprecedented success and even the rebadged Geely SUV, the Proton X50, became the best selling vehicle in Malaysia last year.
Now, the Chinese automaker, Geely, is opening a new innovation design centre in Milan where the brand will work on research and development (R&D) programs for concept cars and production vehicles. This innovation and design centre will also support the international strategy and expansion of the brand.
Moreover, the Geely Group, which consists of many other car brands, including Volvo Cars, Polestar, Lotus, Lynk&Co., Smart, Proton, Geometry and Lotus will dedicate this new innovation design center in Italy based in central Milan as a new hub for creativity and design.
The design center is currently in the process of recruiting and of organizing all logistical aspects and the opening of this design centre as a European hub for design and innovation in one of the world’s design capitals with the aim of reaffirming the central role of creativity in the present and in the future of the brand was strongly supported by the management of Geely.
The new Geely Innovation Design Center in Italy also plans to become a key partner for the Geely Auto Design HQ in Shanghai and for the other design centers abroad. This will essentially allow for more input in terms of finalised designs for the brand and make its products more universally accepted.
In addition to the Milan based design center working on R&D programs for concept cars and production vehicles under the Geely group and its brands, it will also serve as a think tank for cutting edge ideas and what better place to find inspiration for new and exciting design ideas than an actual design capital.
Another task of the Geely Innovation Design Center in Italy is to also serve as a key design force for ambitious projects of Geely Group, global market research, international strategy and support in entering the global market. All this is sure to help Geely attain even more success in 2023 with even more eye-catching designs.
As it is, Geely has been having a relatively good year, specifically here in Malaysia, through Proton but with the opening of this new design centre in Italy, the brand is setting itself up for even greater success in 2023 and I sincerely hope that the brand attains more success this year.
