Kia Is Launching A New Pickup Truck For The Global Market In 2025

This Kia pickup truck will be launched with both ICE and EV powertrains

There has been an upward tick in pickup trucks on the roads lately, while these cars were initially only used on work sites, now they are a lifestyle vehicle. As such many companies have added a new pickup to their lineup and the next brand to do this will be Kia.

Yes, Korean carmaker, Kia is also now joining the hype with the release of an all-new mid-size pickup truck model by 2025,which should be for the global market but will first enter specific markets like Korea or Australia, except the United States and Canada markets.

While the final design of this all-new Kia pickup truck is still yet to be revealed, the car has been spied testing on the road and it has been revealed that the truck will feature a massive and bold tiger-nose grille and vertical LED headlights to make the car appear more butch and modern.

Moreover, it also appears to have a protruding bumper with recessed fog lights which suggest that this Kia pickup truck might be a serious off-roader. It also features large square wheel arches as well as an overall boxy and square design throughout. The door handles also appear to be vertical too. Odd.

On the other hand, the interior of this Kia pickup truck seems to be anything but muscular and traditional. This is all speculation for now, but a source has indicated that the interior will be simple, clean and minimalistic with a dual panoramic curved display for the driver display and infotainment, both being 12.3 inches.

On top of that, the interior of the new Kia is also likely to come as standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charger as well as a 360-degree Surround-View monitor. It will be able to seat five and if rumours are to be believed, it will be one of the more spacious mid-size pickup trucks out there.

Apparently, an insider at Kia also mentioned this pickup truck will be capable of towing a maximum of close to 3,500kg and will measure around 5,400mm in length, similar to its competitors. It will also most likely be released with three separate powertrain options at first.

The first option in this new Kia pickup truck is supposedly a 2.2-litre ‘Smartstream’ turbocharged diesel four cylinder, making roughly 210hp and 420Nm of torque. Next is a petrol 2.5-litre turbo four cylinder shared with the Hyundai Sonata N-Line, churning out 276 hp through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The most exciting powertrain option for the new Kia pickup truck, however, is the fully electric version which features a dual-motor set up making 550hp and 800Nm of torque powered by a 123kWh battery pack giving the pickup an electric range of up to 450km and is capable of 250kW DC fast charging.
