BMW Malaysia today introduces an updated iteration of the i5 eDrive40 M Sport electric sedan. The original i5 made its debut to the Malaysian market in late 2023 and now arrives with enhanced charging capabilities and more streamlined functionality that perfectly complements the unparalleled dynamism of the BMW 5 Series.
The newest iteration of the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport arrives as an icon in modern sedan design and innovation, with enhanced technological features, strengthening the standards for electrified mobility in the local market.
Moreover, while maintaining the elegance and dynamic performance of the world’s most iconic business sedan, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport now boasts augmented charging proficiency, and simplified proportions that represent a harmonious fusion of sophistication and sportiness in equal measure.
The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport now comes equipped with the AC Charging Professional as standard, presenting exceptional improvements to the vehicle’s charging proficiency that befits an exclusive sedan.
This new feature allows for significantly reduced charging times, whether at home or public AC chargers, with the newly equipped 22 kW charging capabilities. This results in a more efficient and convenient charging experience, with a 0 to 100 percent charge now achievable in under 4 hours and 15 minutes.
On top of that, BMW i5 owners can also experience charging access at more than 1,700 charging stations nationwide, facilitated through the brand’s partnerships with leading local EV charging providers.
Collaborations with ChargeEV and Yinson GreenTech alone grant access to over 400 charging stations, while partnerships with JomCharge, Gentari, ChargeN’Go, ChargeSini, Go To-U, and FlexiParking contribute approximately 160 more facilities throughout the country.
What’s more, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport retains its impressive maximum output of 340hp and 430Nm of torque, coupled with an exceptional electric range of up to 582 km (WLTP). This propels the electric sedan from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6 seconds onwards to a top speed of 193km/h.
The luxurious interior design is resplendent as a hallmark of the new electric 5 Series, is present with the BMW Curved Display front and centre, boasting a 12.3-inch instrument panel with a 14.9-inch touchscreen Control Display – consisting of both intuitive interaction and a fully digital communication via natural language and touch commands.
