An All-New BMW M4 CS Facelift Model Appears

The last time we got a BMW M4 CS was 2017 and that had a limited run of 3,000 units.

There’s a new BMW M4 CS and this time it’s built on the facelifted second generation M4. This will be the first M4 CS of this generation, building on the M4 Competition with added racing technology. It arrives after the limited edition BMW M4 CSL, though it’s unclear if there’s a production limit on this model. The last one had a hard limit of 3,000 units.

At the heart of the new BMW M4 CS beats a ferocious 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine that has been meticulously developed for motorsport applications. Derived from the engine powering the championship-winning BMW M4 GT3 race car, this high-revving powerplant produces a staggering 550 hp and 650 Nm of torque – a substantial 20 hp increase over the M4 Competition.

This performance prowess is further accentuated by a slew of race-inspired upgrades, including a reinforced crankcase, a lightweight forged crankshaft, and an innovative 3D-printed cylinder head core that optimizes cooling and temperature management. With a rev limit of 7,200 rpm and peak torque available from just 2,750 rpm, the BMW M4 CS promises lightning-quick acceleration and relentless power delivery.

Mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and BMW’s intelligent M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the BMW M4 CS can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 3.4 seconds. Its mid-range acceleration is equally impressive, with the 80-120 km/h sprint dispatched in just 2.6 seconds in fourth gear. For those seeking ultimate thrills, the BMW M4 CS can reach an electronically limited top speed of 302 km/h when equipped with the optional M Driver’s Package.

The BMW M4 CS isn’t just about raw power; it’s a well-rounded performance machine engineered for the racetrack. The model-specific chassis tuning, including bespoke wheel camber settings, dampers, and anti-roll bars, ensures precise steering response, exceptional cornering grip, and unwavering stability at high speeds.

BMW’s extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) further enhances the M4 CS’s agility and handling dynamics. The CFRP components, including the roof, front splitter, rear diffuser, and Gurney-style rear spoiler, contribute to a weight reduction of approximately 20 kilograms compared to the M4 Competition. An optional M front-end strut brace can be specified to maximize torsional rigidity and sharpen handling during aggressive cornering.

The new BMW M4 CS exudes an unmistakable sense of motorsport heritage and exclusivity.

Available in two exclusive BMW Individual paint finishes – Riviera Blue and Frozen Isle of Man Green Metallic – the M4 CS features an array of exposed carbon fiber elements that highlight its performance-oriented character.

The front end sports a weight-saving, frameless kidney grille with red accents and “M4 CS” badging, while the eye-catching headlights illuminate in a distinctive yellow hue, reminiscent of successful GT racing cars. At the rear, the Laserlight technology employed in the taillights creates a striking 3D effect, further emphasizing the M4 CS’s exclusivity.

Inside, the cabin is a perfect blend of racing inspiration and everyday practicality. Standard M Carbon bucket seats with an exclusive Black/Red color scheme and contrast stitching provide exceptional support and comfort, while the M Alcantara steering wheel, CFRP trim elements, and illuminated “CS” lettering on the center console reinforce the car’s performance pedigree.

The new BMW M4 CS incorporates the latest iteration of the BMW iDrive system, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch control display. M-specific readouts, including shift lights, vehicle setup information, and tyre data, keep drivers informed and in control.

Additionally, the M Drive Professional system offers a suite of track-focused features, such as the M Drift Analyser, M Laptimer, and M Traction Control, enabling drivers to analyze and optimize their performance on the circuit.

The M Mode button allows for quick adjustments to driver assistance system responses and display content, ensuring a tailored driving experience for every scenario.

With its potent performance, track-focused engineering, and exclusive design elements, the new BMW M4 CS promises to deliver an unparalleled driving experience for enthusiasts seeking the ultimate fusion of daily usability and circuit-bred thrills. Get ready to conquer the roads and the racetrack with this exhilarating addition to the BMW M lineup.
