New Isuzu CEO Tomoyuki Yamaguchi To Focus On Customer Satisfaction

As Isuzu Malaysia welcomes its new CEO, the brand will apparently also shift focus

Isuzu Malaysia has officially appointed Mr. Tomoyuki Yamaguchi as its new CEO effective 24 April 2025. He will succeed Mr. Shunsuke Okazoe, who has returned to Japan to assume the role of Vice President of Japan Sales Division, Isuzu Motors Ltd. This leadership transition marks a new chapter for Isuzu Malaysia as it aims to further elevate its service standards and operational excellence in the country.

With a career spanning nearly three decades at Isuzu Motors, Mr. Yamaguchi brings a wealth of international experience. A graduate of Toyo University, he joined Isuzu in 1997 and began his journey in the International Operations Department. He played a pivotal role in expanding Isuzu’s footprint across Russia, Ukraine, and other CIS nations.

Moreover, his leadership in South-West Asian markets and most recently in South Africa, where he revitalized the commercial vehicle segment, has prepared him well for his new responsibilities in Malaysia. Mr. Yamaguchi acknowledges the solid foundation laid by his predecessors and the strong brand presence Isuzu has built in Malaysia over the past 20 years.

He stated, “Isuzu Malaysia stands out as a benchmark for operational excellence globally. We have a loyal customer base that trusts the reliability and performance of Isuzu vehicles. Our goal now is to continuously improve the customer journey and ensure a positive experience at every touchpoint,”

On top of that, as part of his vision for Isuzu Malaysia, Mr. Yamaguchi will focus on strengthening the nationwide dealership network. A key priority will be enhancing service quality and expanding in-house capabilities across dealerships to provide customers with more comprehensive, value-added services.

Additionally, to support the increasing number of Isuzu vehicles on Malaysian roads, Mr. Yamaguchi aims to streamline parts inventory management through more efficient warehousing solutions. This will ensure faster parts availability and reduced vehicle downtime, significantly improving the ownership experience.

By optimizing after-sales service, parts supply and customer engagement strategies, Isuzu Malaysia under Mr. Yamaguchi’s leadership is set to reinforce its position as a leading commercial vehicle brand in the country. His strategic direction aligns with the company’s long-term vision of cultivating lifelong relationships with customers.

So what do you think about all this? Will Isuzu actually put more of an emphasis on customer satisfaction or is it all just empty promises?
