30 Schools Shortlisted for Toyota Eco Youth 2025

Toyota Eco Youth 2025 puts the power of sustainability in the hands of our nation’s young ones.

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), has announced the 30 secondary schools shortlisted for Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) 2025, following a nationwide call for innovative environmental solutions.

Launched in March, TEY 2025 received over 120 entries from schools across Malaysia, showcasing the passion and creativity of youth in addressing environmental challenges. Now, the shortlisted teams begin turning their bold ideas into practical, community-driven sustainability projects.

Empowering Youth with Practical Problem-Solving Skills

TEY equips students with Toyota’s signature 8-Step Problem-Solving Methodology (PSM), fostering structured thinking and real-world application. From 28–30 April, shortlisted schools gathered at the Official Launch and PSM Workshop held at Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam. Students and teacher-advisors received mentorship, tools, and inspiration to refine their projects.

Each school also received a RM3,000 grant to kickstart their initiatives — a total investment of RM90,000 aimed at creating tangible environmental impact beyond just awareness campaigns.

Balanced Evaluation for Real-World Impact

To ensure holistic development, TEY 2025 projects will be assessed across four key areas:

  • On-Site Judging (40%) – Practical execution and project effectiveness.
  • Project Presentation (20%) – Clarity, depth, and persuasiveness.
  • Exhibition (20%) – Creativity and engagement in visual storytelling.
  • Community Engagement (20%) – Online and offline outreach impact.

Following these assessments, the Top 15 schools will progress to the TEY 2025 Grand Finals.

Building Sustainable Communities, One Project at a Time

Toyota’s commitment to “Moving Your World” is reflected in TEY’s mission — empowering the next generation to lead environmental change. By integrating critical thinking, teamwork, and community service, students are shaping a greener, more resilient Malaysia.

“With their passion and the right tools in hand, these young changemakers are no longer just imagining a better world — they are building it,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.
