Congratulations to Proton for expanding its EV reach to include Trinidad and Tobago
Proton’s International Sales Division (ISD) has officially introduced its first EV, the Proton e.MAS 7, to the Caribbean market of Trinidad and Tobago. This marks the model’s second international debut, following its initial overseas launch in Nepal just three months ago. Kudos to Proton for this major step in global expansion.

The launch event took place in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, and was officiated by Jean-Marc Mouttet, Sector Head of ANSA Motors Limited, alongside Alexander Sabga, General Manager of New Business Development at ANSA McAL Ltd. ANSA Motors has served as Proton’s official distributor in the dual-island nation since 2013.
Moreover, to coincide with the launch of the e.MAS 7, ANSA Motors unveiled a brand-new, state-of-the-art EV showroom at The City of Grand Bazaar. This new facility is designed to meet the evolving needs of EV owners, offering customers an immersive space to explore electric vehicle technology, interact with the EV lineup, and access specialized aftersales support.

Proton’s footprint in Trinidad and Tobago has steadily expanded, with 481 vehicles exported to date. These include 271 units of the Proton X50, 141 Proton X90s, and 44 Proton Sagas. The successful market reception of these models has laid a strong foundation for the e.MAS 7’s introduction.
On top of that, Proton and ANSA Motors have made strategic investments to support EV adoption, ensuring a comprehensive ownership experience through robust customer service and charging infrastructure. The Proton e.MAS 7, available in Premium specification, brings together cutting-edge performance, safety and range.

The all-electric SUV is powered by a 12-in-1 electric drive unit delivering 160kW of power and 320Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds. It houses a 60.22 kWh Aegis Short Blade battery, delivering a WLTP-rated range of 410km. The vehicle also boasts a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.
Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Director of Proton’s ISD, emphasized the brand’s strategic vision, saying, “The launch of the e.MAS 7 in Trinidad and Tobago is a key milestone for us. It not only highlights our commitment to global EV adoption but also signals our intention to expand into new markets like Mauritius and Singapore later this year.”

Once again, we congratulate Proton on this big leap and hope the brand keeps expanding overseas.
