BYD VP Liu Xueliang In Town Excites Many But He Is Here For Denza B5 Launch On The 21st Of May

Social media chatter is moving fast when images of the Vice President of BYD Co., Ltd, Mr. Liu Xueliang was shared on Facebook when visiting a BYD showroom in Klang Valley.

His visit comes as BYD unveils a new SUV under their premium brand, DENZA. Yes, just like with Toyota (for Lexus) and Honda (for Acura) BYD has a premium brand and it is called Denza and under this brand there is the fast selling Denza D9 luxury MPV.

BYD

The Denza D9 premium electric MPV arrived in Malaysia sometime in February 2025 as a direct competitor to the very popular Toyota Alphard, with prices starting from RM259,000 to RM309,000. Available in FWD and AWD, it offers up to 520km of emissions free driving range and is backed by BYD Malaysia and its distributor, Sime Motors. (more details on the Denza B5 shared below)

Denza is also proud to announce its partnership with DEVIALET, the renowned French luxury audio brand.

This collaboration, launched in March 2023, enhances the Denza D9’s sensory experience with premium sound quality, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to merging luxury, technology, and performance. By working with premium brands like DEVIALET, Denza continues to create a holistic, luxurious experience for its customers.

By the way, this new sub-brand from #BYD China and this rugged looking luxury #SUV is built on BYD’s Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) Super Hybrid Platform.

So, this Bao 5 rugged vehicle is marketed as an off-road SUV with a boxy #JEEP Wrangler like profile and design language that a number of Chinese vehicle manufacturers are releasing for sale since 2021.

Interestingly, this is NOT some copycat design as it was designed by German designer #WolfgangEgger who used to be the head designer at Alfa Romeo, Audi, Lancia, SEAT and even #Lamborghini. He is now at BYD design headquarters.
