0Facelifted BMW X6 M Competition Now Gets 48V Hybrid Technology
The BMW X6 coupe style SUV now goes hybrid
With electrification taking the world by storm, car guys and traditional petrolheads, myself included, are feeling increasingly left out but then again, progress can’t be stopped. Still, many of us wish there would be some middle ground that can satisfy both sides, and BMW has the solution.
The BMW M division, the brand’s sport division, have gone about adding extensive performance modifications to both luxury Sports Activity Vehicle (the X5 M) and Sports Activity Coupe (the X6 M) segments. Now terminology aside, this is just the brand talking about its SUVs but the modifications these cars got is extensive indeed.
Moreover, the M division have added new 48V hybrid technology to the new BMW X6 M Competition which is already crazy powerful with its 4.4 litre turbocharged V8 that now has a combined fuel consumption rate of 12.9 to 12.7 litres per 100 km along with other upgrades like the latest-generation iDrive operating system.
The addition of this new technology, as well as the exterior design updates and the BMW Curved Display and BMW Operating System 8, also mark the first time we see the inclusion of this 48V technology in the brand’s high-performance models which delivers up to 9kW/12hp of additional power and 200Nm of torque.
What’s more, the new 48V technology is also paired to a new BMW M TwinPower Turbo 4.4 litre V8 engine which features a reinforced crankshaft drive, a new air intake duct and an optimised oil supply system and oil separation process. This gives it a maximum power output of 625hp and 750Nm of torque.
On top of that, the sharper response and high-revving character of the new BMW M powered V8 engine, together with the boost provided by the electric motor, take the performance of the BMW X6 M Competition to a whole new level. This practical coupe style SUV can now accelerate to 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds.
The BMW X6 M Competition also comes as standard with 21-inch M light-alloy wheels at the front paired with 22-inch M light-alloy wheels in the rear. Forged M light-alloy wheels with the same dimensions are also available as optional extras and they include a new variant in a Jet Black solid finish.
Naturally, with all this power and luxury, the BMW X6 M Competition also features a wide selection of automated driving and parking systems including an optional self-parking system which also comes with a comprehensive list of safety features as standard so this car is now the stylish coupe SUV to beat.
What do you guys think of the new BMW X6 M Competition? I personally love its coupe body shape and hope to see it in person soon.
